Our herd is a member of the Biobest herd health scheme. We are certified BVD free and currently Jhones level 2.

 

We have nearly 200 pedigree, medium bodied fleshy cows with good feet. Over the years we have selected top quality stock bulls from a variety of herds and systems. We have retained females that perform best in our forage-based system. We now have a great herd with a variety of high-quality genetics that perform like commercial cows. This policy is paying dividends with our bull and heifer sales. If you come to view our stock expect to see high quality genetics that are proven to thrive in a low input system. We offer a great choice quality breeding stock at affordable prices. Our best male calves are sold as bulls and the rest are castrated and retailed through our farm shop, Farmer Luxtons.

All bulls over 15 months of age are fertility tested before delivery. Our young bulls are reared slowly with the end user in mind. We regularly receive feedback from our customers about how well our bulls have done and how good their fertility is. In the last 12 months we have sold over 40 bulls.

We cut 200 acres of hay and silage, 20 acres of forage maize and 20 acres of winter wheat. This is currently supplemented with 3t of concentrate/week between 450 head of cattle of which 160 are in the growing/fattening sheds. We have not had to trim the feet of one cow this winter.
